Introduction of the presenter:

Dr. ZHOU Yang obtained B.E. from Zhengzhou University in 2011 and M.E. from Hohai University in 2014. In Oct. of 2017, he got PhD in the field of geotechnical engineering from National Saga University in Japan. During his doctoral research, Dr. ZHOU worked as a research assistant in the Institute of Lowland and Marine Research, Saga. His research interests are creep behavior of soft embankment, treatment of dredged soil with PVD and consolidation problem. From 2014 to 2017 in Saga University, he focused on non-uniform consolidation problem for both radial consolidation and vertical consolidation. The research results has been published on top-quality journals such as the Geotechnique and the International Journal of Geomechnics-ASCE.

Introduction of the presentation:

Research had shown that non-uniform consolidation has significant effect on the rate of consolidation and there are no simple and practical methods considering this effect. In this report, the experimental investigation and finite element analysis will be presented. Finally, new pragmatic methods will be reported considering the effect of non-uniform consolidation into traditional theoretical solutions.
